The essential is enough.
The client asked for a minimal, conceptual beach house, with total design freedom — even in the choice of the plot. The answer was a new concept of beach house: lean, open and affordable to build.
Between the sea, the lagoon and the hillside, the house rests on the terrain “like something alighting”. Only the necessary is built — and that is where the beauty comes from.
The architecture is born of a simple gesture: two beams and four columns. Reduced to the essential, the structure does not represent — it builds. It is the very drawing of the house.
Under the span, the void: a shaded shelter where the air flows free — at times a place of rest, at times of gathering. The interval that makes the architecture alive.
On a triangular plot of 409 m², the house is organized in two offset pavilions, the rear block raised about 1.5 m. The stepping guarantees the view of Pipa Beach from anywhere in the home.
In the upper pavilion, a terrace projects over the treetops: nature is not around the house — it is inside it. The tree is also a column; the wind, also a wall.
From anywhere in the house there are always three presences: view, ventilation and natural light. The level changes and the counterposed elements create a rich, continuous spatiality.
Concrete, glass, timber and metal do not hide: each element takes part in the construction as one same body, revealing the truth of what holds it up.
The Two Beams House belongs to the award-winning portfolio of Yuri Vital Arquiteto, celebrated for resolving a conceptual beach house with the bare minimum of structure.

The partnership was born with the Box House, a social-housing project that won the IAB-SP 2008 Award. Through it, Roberto Morais of Podium met the architect and brought his line to Northeast Brazil.
